Mike and Carole Morbitzer

Mike and Carole Morbitzer arrived in the Groveport Madison Local School District in Summer of 2023 but they have lived in Groveport for thirty years. Mike and Carole have a son who, as Mike likes to say, catches big fish and a daughter who, as Carole likes to say, plays volleyball for a local team. Mike is Groveport Madison's Director of Innovation and Accountability and Carole is the Director of Instruction and Achievement.

Together Mike and Carole came to Groveport with almost sixty years of experience in nearly every aspect of teaching and learning. Their careers include eighteen years in the classroom for Mike and twenty years for Carole. Mike taught high school English and Carole taught high school math. After Mike spent some years as an assistant principal, the two of them ran the Department of Teaching and Learning at a neighboring school district for eight years.

Mike loves to let everyone know about Carole's many awards for teaching, coaching, and volunteerism and Carole...well, she lets him shine her trophies. Actually, Mike has accomplished some things, too. Check out their résumés detailing their work and awards prior to joining the Groveport team in the side panel of this page.

For many years Mike and Carole have presented their instructional and educational design strategies to local school district teachers and administrator teams, districts throughout Ohio, and beyond our state borders. They also have presented and served as panelists and keynote speakers at seminars, OEA and OSBA conferences, as well as at student conferences like the Ohio National Honor Society State Conference. Much of that work centers around curricular design, standards alignment, assessment design, and data analysis for school and district improvement.

Part of what makes Mike and Carole a great team is how each looks at education. Mike is always concerned about learning from the student's perspective and Carole focuses on the instructional changes that need to be made by the teacher. Together they share a single professional pursuit of helping students learn.
