Hanover Research Selected to Help Chart District’s Future Direction
Over the course of the past year, the Administration and Board of Education have been discussing various approaches to address aging buildings and overcrowded conditions in our elementary and middle schools. In doing so, it was determined that we also needed to incorporate up-to-date/best practices with respect to issues including grade-level configurations, how to address students’ non-academic needs (physical, mental and emotional health), and align community priorities with the District’s strategic plan.
End of Grading Period Moving Up by One Day
In the 2017-2018 school calendar, the end of the second nine-week  grading period was to conclude on December 21. With the District’s  holiday break beginning after school dismisses on December 20, we have  shortened the grading period by one day so that the end of the grading  period corresponds with our scheduled break. Grade cards for the second nine-week grading period will go out on January 12.
Refinancing Construction Bonds to Save Taxpayers $831K
On Nov. 7, 2017, Groveport Madison Schools Treasurer John Walsh along with representatives of Ross, Sinclaire & Associates, LLC, completed the refinancing of a portion of the District’s 2014 School Facilities Construction and Improvement Bonds. The $8,225,708 refinancing will save taxpayers approximately $831,815 in gross debt service over the life of the issue by reducing interest costs from 5.00% to approximately 3.69%.
2018 Graduation Plans Announced
Graduation for the Class of 2018 will be held on Friday, May 25, at 7 p.m.

With the addition of the new synthetic turf athletic field, we are planning to hold graduation exercises in Cruiser Stadium. Having graduation “at home” was a time-honored tradition for many years at Groveport Madison High School. We are very pleased to rekindle that tradition as we prepare to open the new high school.

To assist in answering questions regarding the graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2018, we have developed the following list of Frequently-Asked Questions. We hope this information helps to address any questions or concerns students and/or their families may have regarding this year’s graduation plans.

GM Schools Sees Progress Beyond Most Peer Districts for 2nd Year
The Ohio Department of Education has released the 2016-2017 State Report Card for all of Ohio's public and charter school districts, and I am pleased to report that for the second year in row, Groveport Madison's students achieved growth that outpaced the majority of our peer districts in Franklin County. In fact, of the 16 area school districts, only five districts (Bexley, Gahanna-Jefferson, New Albany-Plain Local, Whitehall, and Worthington) had a Value Added score higher than Groveport Madison's.
Urgent and Important Information for Parents and Students of the Class of 2018
To Parents and students of the class of 2018:
For students in the class of 2018 ONLY, Ohio has established alternate options for those students who are at-risk of not earning the 18 required end-of-course exam points. These options are only for students in the class of 2018. Curriculum requirements and the minimum 20 credits are not affected or changed in any way by these options.

Important Reminder Regarding Payments to the District
We want to make sure that when you send a check to the District that we can process that check properly. Please ensure that all checks and money orders are payable to Groveport Madison Schools and not to the individual school buildings.

You may include the student’s name or student ID in the memo line, but the payable section of the check or money order MUST be made out to Groveport Madison Schools.
