At the Jan. 13 BOE regular meeting, the Groveport Madison Schools Board of Education took a significant step toward addressing the district’s growing enrollment by approving a bond issue for the May 6 ballot. If passed by voters, the bond issue will generate $77.2 million in local funding to construct three brand-new middle schools and expand Groveport Madison High School. This creates opportunities for students have access to modern, high-quality learning environments that can accommodate the district’s increasing student population.
The total cost of the project is estimated at $134.8 million. Thanks to a partnership with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC), the state will contribute $71.4 million toward the initiative. This means that a significant portion of the project will be covered through state funds, reducing the financial burden on local taxpayers while still allowing for necessary improvements to school infrastructure.
