The Board of Education began its 2024 meetings with an Organizational Meeting that covered the following:

Welcome Mr. John Kershner to the Groveport Madison Schools Board of Education. Congratulations to Mrs. Kathy Walsh on her re-election to the BOE.

Congratulations to Mrs. LaToya Dowdell-Burger on being re-elected as Board of Education President and Mr. Seth Bower on being re-elected as Board of Education Vice President.
BOE ADOPTS NORMS OF OPERATION PLEDGE (not featured in the video)
The BOE adopted the Norms of Operations Pledge in a 3-2 vote and voted 3-2 to keep the Norms as they are.

BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULAR MEETING - JANUARY 10, 2024
Thank you to our school board for caring about our children and giving so much to our community! Your dedicated service is recognized and truly appreciated. During this time, Central Regional Manager Mark Bobo spoke to the Board of Education and audience about the importance of School Board Recognition Month.
On January 16, 2024, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday will mark the 29th anniversary of the National Day of Service. This day was established to honor Dr. King's life and legacy and encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. We remember Dr. King as a husband, father, friend, and fierce advocate for the betterment of all people. Honor his memory by organizing, volunteering, and spreading the word. Remember to MAKE IT A DAY ON, NOT A DAY OFF, for you and those around you.
GM Schools currently has seven early graduates - five of whom are early graduates but will be graduating in May with the Class of 2024. The two other students could not attend the January board meeting for a graduation ceremony, but they will be receiving their diplomas.

APPROVE THE 2024-2025 AND 2025-2025 SCHOOL YEAR CALENDARS
After hearing from public participation speakers, the BOE discussed calendar options and determined to approve the 2024-2025/2025-2026 School Year Calendars during the February 16, 2024, meeting. This also aligns with the Board of Education/OSBA policy IC / ICA stating that there must be a hearing to discuss possible school calendars at least 30 days before the adoption of the calendars.
