At Groveport Madison Schools, we encourage a collaborative approach to teacher preparation through a co-teaching and co-planning model. This student-teacher initiative aims to provide a rich learning experience, fostering a dynamic partnership between aspiring educators and their mentors.
In our district, we emphasize the power of teamwork. Student teachers collaborate closely with mentor teachers, sharing ideas, insights, and responsibilities to create a vibrant and inclusive learning environment.
By engaging in co-teaching, student teachers gain practical, hands-on experience in managing diverse classrooms. This real-world readiness prepares them for the challenges and opportunities they'll encounter in their future careers.
Continuing into the second semester of this school year, we currently have nine student-teacher placements through the Ohio State University, nine FEEP (First Education Experience Program) placements, three Otterbein student-teacher placements, and one, along with five pending placements from Capital University.
At Groveport Madison Schools, we fully support the co-planning and co-teaching model. This model benefits everyone and ensures that our students still receive our teachers' valuable instruction along with having a second teacher in the room. The second teacher/intern gets the experience they need while receiving mentorship from our teachers.
Many of the student teachers we host in our buildings are interviewed and considered for full-time placement upon graduation from their programs.
As we embrace co-teaching and co-planning, we're not just shaping the educators of tomorrow; we're building a community of lifelong learners committed to excellence in education.
