Ohio’s districts and schools receive Disadvantaged Pupil Impact Aid and Student Wellness and Success Funds to fund initiatives to support wraparound services for Ohio’s students. Each year, school districts must report the allocation they receive, along with the plans for using the funding. District Plan:

Groveport Madison Local Schools will continue to utilize the Disadvantaged Pupil Impact Aid and Student Wellness and Success Funds to cover the cost of salaries and benefits of staffing positions that support the “Whole Child” to address and meet students’ academic, social-emotional, physical, and safety needs.

Priority #1

Groveport Madison Local Schools will continue to utilize the Disadvantaged Pupil Impact Aid and Student Wellness and Success Funds to ensure that guidance counselors are in place in all of our schools.

Desired Outcomes:

School guidance counselors will continue to teach good social skills, provide clinical mental health counseling and behavioral interventions. Counselors are able to provide both individual and small group support to students in need. They also ensure that proper processes and protocols are followed when threat or suicide assessments need to be conducted.

Priority #2

Groveport Madison Local Schools utilizes some of the Disadvantaged Pupil Impact Aid and Student Wellness and Success Funds for school health secretaries and nurses to provide ongoing medical support to students with medical conditions and to students with daily health needs.

Desired Outcomes:

The school nurses may provide short-term care for students’ injuries, illnesses, or crisis interventions as well as long-term care for students with chronic health conditions. School nurses may also administer medication as required. They may also provide professional development to staff with regard to CPR, diabetes, allergies, and/or other medical needs.

Priority #3

Groveport Madison Local Schools will partner with outside agencies to provide mental health support to students and to provide mental health support to staff as needed. These partnerships will serve as a bridge between GMLS and outside counseling and social services agencies.

Desired Outcomes:

Nationwide Children’s Hospital – 7th and 10th grade annual suicide screening and for students at risk.

Ohio Bereavement Services – As needed
Educational Service Center of Central Ohio – Development of the district social-emotional learning team, providing de-escalation training for support staff as well as restorative practices to help improve student behavior, reduce violence, and create a sense of community in our schools.

The district will continue to utilize some of the funds to ensure that school psychologists and social workers are in place to serve all of our schools.

Desired Outcomes:

To ensure support to our student students and their families with students’ social, emotional and behavioral health. They also support multi-factored evaluations and identification of students who would fall into the parameters of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Priority #5

Groveport Madison Local Schools is utilizing the additional Disadvantaged Pupil Impact Aid funds given in FY 2025 to cover the salary and benefit costs of Reading Specialists at each of the six elementary schools.

Desired Outcomes:

To support and improve student academic achievement and reduce reading disparities.
