District's 2023-2024 State Report Card Shows Improvement

Groveport Madison Schools is committed to transparency and helping our community understand the state report card indicators and what they mean for our students and schools. The Ohio School Report Card provides valuable insights into our performance in several key areas, and it's important to interpret these indicators in the context of our District's overall goals and progress.

Understanding the Indicators:

The Ohio School Report Card uses several indicators to assess school performance, each designed to provide a comprehensive view of how well schools are serving their students. Here's a brief explanation of the main indicators:

  1. Achievement: This indicator measures whether our students meet grade-level expectations on state tests. It includes the Performance Index, which shows how well students perform on these assessments, and the Indicators Met measure, which shows how many of our students met or exceeded the basic proficiency level.
  2. Progress: Progress looks at Groveport Madison Schools students' growth over the past school year. It evaluates whether our students are making the expected progress in key subjects, such as math and reading, regardless of their initial level of achievement.
  3. Gap Closing: This measure evaluates the performance of specific student groups, including economically disadvantaged students, students with disabilities, and students from various racial and ethnic backgrounds. It shows how well our Groveport Madison Schools are narrowing achievement gaps and meeting the needs of all students in our district.
  4. Graduation Rate: This indicator looks at the percentage of students who graduate within four or five years. It reflects the school's ability to support students in completing their high school education on time.
  5. Early Literacy: This measure focuses on how well schools are helping students in kindergarten through third grade learn to read. It is a critical indicator of future academic success, as early reading skills are foundational for learning across all subjects.
  6. College, Career, Workforce, and Military Readiness: This new component assesses how well-prepared students are for life after high school, whether they choose to go to college, start a career, join the military, or pursue other pathways.
