COVID protocols based on Franklin County Public Health and CDC Guidance

If you or your child tests positive please go on the school website and report the positive results as we are required to report to the health department.

Any positive students must stay home for five days from the date of testing. Please reach out to the teacher for any school work. If the child is fever free for 24 hours without medication and is feeling better with symptoms improving they may come back to school and continue to monitor symptoms daily for the next five days (this is after the initial 5 days).  It is also important to wear a mask properly when at school and in a public setting.

If your child has been exposed to a positive person in the home, school, or elsewhere please continue to monitor for symptoms of covid.  Symptoms can include a fever, new or worsened headache, loss of taste or smell, diarrhea or sore throat. You may not get all of these symptoms, including a fever; not all positive cases get a fever. Watch for these symptoms for a total of 10 days. You may choose to keep your child home for five days if you are unable to isolate your student  from the positive person and if they become symptomatic get them tested before returning to school. If you are able to isolate the child from the positive case you may choose to send your child to school and monitor symptoms daily for 10 days, and make sure they are wearing their mask properly when at school and in a public setting to keep everyone safe.

 OTHER ILLNESSES
Any other illness outside of covid, you need to always keep your student home for at least 24 hours (without fever reducing medicine) if they have a temperature above 100.0. Students must stay home if they have diarrhea and or vomiting. They must be free of these two things for at least 24 hours before returning to school. Please notify your school nurse if your child has been to the doctor and has received a diagnosis of covid, strep throat, flu, chicken pox and any other illness that is contagious. If you have any questions or concerns don’t hesitate to contact your school nurse at 614-833-2011. Keep in mind these precautions are in place to keep everyone safe and healthy.
