Flu season is amongst us. It starts in October and can go as far as May. However, the peak is normally between December and February. The single best way to protect yourself against the flu is to get the vaccine. It is being offered right now. It does not protect against all flu because there are various strains. However, if you get the vaccine, it can lessen the flu's effects if you were to acquire a strain that you did not get vaccinated against. Many places offer the vaccine even as a walk-in. You can get the vaccine as you pick up your groceries at various pharmacies such as Kroger, Walgreens, and CVS. If you prefer, you can get it at your physician's office, and if you call them, sometimes they even offer an appointment and or walk-in by telling them it is for a flu shot and the Nurse can give it without seeing the physician.
