On a cold day in January, representatives from Groveport Madison Schools traveled to Lancaster to receive a most generous donation of four pallets of brand-new books from the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots. The surplus of books left over from the holiday drive will help stock the district’s new Groveport Madison Schools Mobile Library.
The donation provides a major boost in preparing the new mobile library for its launch and reinforces the district’s commitment to literacy and equitable access to books.
A special part of the delivery included Daylin Hamlet, an 8th grader at Middle School North, who serves as a National Ambassador Mentor for Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots. Daylin was on site to help load the Groveport Madison Schools truck with the donated books, proudly representing both the district and the Toys for Tots organization.
“These books will make a lasting impact on our students,” said GMS Communications
Director, Ty Debevoise. “We are incredibly thankful to Marine Corps Reserve Toys for
Tots for supporting literacy in such a meaningful way.”
The books will be stocked onto the new Groveport Madison Schools Mobile Library,
which will soon begin its initial journey to all elementary schools across the district,
bringing a full library experience directly to students. This partnership ensures that every
child has the opportunity to explore and develop a love for reading, no matter where
their classroom is located. The donated books span K–12 reading levels, ensuring
students of all ages will have access to age-appropriate reading materials.
Groveport Madison Schools extends its sincere thanks to Marine Corps Reserve Toys
for Tots and to Daylin Hamlet for helping make this exciting milestone possible.
