Back to School 2020-2021

Teacher with mask

Welcome back! We're glad you've chosen Groveport Madison Schools. The upcoming school year will be unlike any other in modern history as schools across the nation grapple with the challenges of COVID-19. Nevertheless, please know we will be doing our very best every day to ensure our students receives the high-quality education they deserve. While things will be very different on many fronts . . . our high expectations remain the same!

As of July 28, Franklin County Public Health (FCPH) advised Groveport Madison Schools (and all Franklin County school districts) to open in a 100% remote online learning model. Once conditions improve, the health department will notify us when we can prepare for reopening schools using our Blended Learning Model. An explanation of the three learning models is noted below.

We have compiled information you will need to have a great start to the 2020-2021 school year. Whether you're looking for schedues, school supply lists or bus route information, we've tried to provide you with one place to find the all the information you need for the new school year. If you can't find the information you seek, call our Communications  & Community Relations Office, at (614) 492-2520 for assistance.

Schools to Begin in 100% Remote Online Learning Model

100% Remote Online Learning Model
We will begin the school year with all students taking classes in an online learning model. During the first week of school, all K-12 students will be issued Chromebook computers. As much as possible, students will be taught in a format where the teacher is present online at the same time as the students, through the use of video conferencing, live chat, or email.

In-Person, On-site Classes (Blended Learning Model)
The District will implement its Blended Learning Model for students attending in-person when approved to do so by Franklin County Public Health. To meet social distancing and other requirements, students will attend school in one of two groups (A or B). One-half of the child’s class (approximately 15 students per classroom) would attend school in-person two days per week, and receive online instruction at home the other three days of the week. Parents will be notified of their child's "A" or "B" schedule assignment the week of Aug. 10.

The District will provide at least a one-week notice to families and
staff before moving to in-person, on-site classes.

Cruiser Digital Academy
Families were given the opportunity to select year-long online classes for their child. Students taking their classes through Cruiser Digital Academy (CDA) will be taught in a format where the teacher is present online at the same time as the students. Synchronous teaching may take place through the use of video conferencing, live chat, or email. Students taking classes through CDA will receive confirmation of their selection the week of Aug. 10.

Groveport Madison Schools provides bus service to students living one mile or more from their assigned school. Exceptions to these limits may be made in the case of a temporarily- or permanently-disabled child who has been certified by a physician (and is required by the student’s IEP), and in the case of adverse safety conditions. The District assigns centrally located, regional bus stops to provide the most convenient access to the greatest number of students on each bus route.

Petermann Transportation, LLC. provides transportation bus services for the school district. 2020-2021 Immunization Requirements

Part of the mission of the Ohio Department of Health is to ensure that all Ohio schools provide safe and healthy environments for students and staff alike. The Department of Health requires that all students be immunized before enrolling in school. Contact your child's healthcare provider to make sure your child’s vaccinations are up-to-date. A list of immunizations is available at www.gocruisers.org/healthandsafety.aspx or www.odh.ohio.gov/immunization.

Immunization Requirements for Incoming 7th and 12th Graders
A booster dose of the Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis) and MCV4 (Meningococcal) vaccine is required before entry into the seventh grade, and incoming twelfth graders must have a second dose of the MCV4 (Meningococcal) vaccine before returning to school. If your child has not had these immunizations, please contact your healthcare provider or the Franklin County Public Health Department by visiting http://www.myfcph.org/health-wellness/shots or by calling 614-525-3719. Childhood and adult immunization clinics are available through Franklin County Public Health Department. Appointments are required. For details and clinic locations, click here.
