Misstatements Lead to Music Program Concerns
Correcting Misinformation
Last week, incorrect information was shared indicating that a proposed change in next year’s schedule would not allow the high school to continue to offer the full spectrum instrumental music program that we currently offer today. Specifically, it was stated that a change in the 2019-2020 schedule would not permit the program to continue to offer two concert bands (which would allow participation in OMEA large-group competitions). The information also indicated that the schedule would not allow students to participate in sectionals and OMEA Solo and Ensemble Contest. The statements were not accurate and do not in any way reflect the District’s goal of expanding and improving our middle and high school music programming, and we apologize for any anxiety or frustration that has been caused by these misstatements.

It also has been previously stated that the marching band did not have what was believed to be a safe and appropriate field for everyday practices. Please know that this situation has been resolved to the satisfaction of all involved.

Respectfully,
