Groveport Madison Alum, Le'Veon Bell, Donates Funds to Purchase Synthetic Athletic Field
Groveport Madison Alum, Le'Veon Bell, Donates Funds to Purchase Synthetic Athletic Field We are very excited to announce that Groveport Madison High School alum and Pittsburgh Steelers running back, Le’Veon Bell has committed to donate $750,000 to cover the installation of a synthetic turf athletic field at GMHS.

In the agreement with Bell, the Board of Education approved a naming rights contract whereby the athletic field will be renamed “Le’Veon Bell Field at Cruiser Stadium.” Work on the new synthetic turf field is expected to begin June 9, with completion expected in approximately 60 days. A dedication event is tentatively slated for August 25 – the Cruiser’s first, home football game of the 2017 season.

“This is an incredible gift to the Groveport Madison Schools community,” said Superintendent Bruce Hoover. “Le’Veon and his mother, Lisa, give credit to many people at GMHS, most particularly to coach Bryan Schoonover, for helping Le’Veon during his high school years. This gift speaks to the power of strong, trusting relationships between our students and staff. It also demonstrates the power and connection between our schools and our alumni – and what it means to be a Cruiser.”
