The New GMHS – In the Final Stretch!
Rendering of GM High School
There is an incredible sense of excitement and anticipation for the opening of the new high school. For the most part, the construction phase of the project is wrapping up, with the project’s architect and the construction manager carefully working through their “punch lists” to ensure all of the work is complete to their exacting specifications.

At this point, rooms are being cleaned, floors are being waxed, and furniture and equipment arrive on an almost daily basis. At the same time, health and building inspections have commenced, and our staff is being trained to use and maintain the various electrical and mechanical systems.

Demolition Update
All of the classroom and teacher materials from the old building were packed and moved into the new high school immediately after the school year ended. While the old bus garage has been removed, exterior demolition of the high school is scheduled to begin shortly after July 4. As the demolition progresses from the south end of the building to the north, contractors will begin installing storm sewers and grading the site for parking lots, sidewalks and landscaping installations. The demolition phase of the project is expected wrap up in late August.

Keepsake Bricks
There is no doubt that the old high school building holds fond memories for many. We have directed the demolition contractor to maintain a pile of salvaged bricks so that the public may have a keepsake item from the school. The brick pile will be located close to the main entrance of the site. If you stop by to get a brick, please be careful, as the bricks may have wire or other sharp objects attached to them.

High School Dedication Date Set
The District extends a community-wide invitation to attend the dedication ceremony for the new high school. The event will take place on Wednesday, August 29, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. This will be a great time to tour the building and learn how it will benefit our students for many years to come. We look forward to seeing you there!
