Superintendent's Message: Passing the Test

Politicians and educational professionals are continually working on ways to gauge student knowledge and school performance through assessments and grades. Although these measures are helpful in understanding performance ratings across the state, we know that true success lies within the child. Our job as educators is to provide the right lessons and tools to help each child discover their potential and aide in their growth.

Groveport Madison staff understands the importance of accountability. The district recognizes the need to improve student performance. The goal of every teacher, administrator and parent across the district is to find better ways to help our students extend learning beyond the classroom by providing more opportunities for students to achieve success.

Targeted Programs for Achievement:

District administration is working on long-term plans for student achievement. At the start of the next school year, our school district will be prepared to offer three and four-year-old students the option of enrolling in a public preschool opportunity. This program, currently under development, will provide training and resources for both students and parents. The program will help level the playing field for our youngest students entering the district.

Within our current classrooms, teachers will be focusing on creating more individualized and targeted instruction. Assessment information will continue to be used to discover a child’s abilities and to understand untapped potential for growth.

Students who excel in subjects will be continually challenged. This will be accomplished by expanding gifted-related services that will help prepare students for college/career pathways. These programs will enable them to advance at their own pace and design.

Finally, Groveport Madison is preparing to put more technology into teachers’ and students’ hands which will enable them to connect to a 21st Century learning culture.

Our parents and school volunteers are essential partners in helping to build student success. As we take important steps towards improvement, we will rely on our partners’ support in and outside of the classroom. Everyone’s participation will be important in helping our children reach their potential.

By working together, we can achieve great outcomes, and this is when we can say that we’ve truly passed the test.
