A Letter From the Superintendent

Dear Parents,

I just received our local report card information from the State of Ohio. The report card reflects how our district compares to other districts across the state in preparing our learners.

(continued from page 1)...

At first glance, I was very disappointed. We lost seven indicators of achievement growth due to a change in the state standards and the report makes our organization and community less attractive for families. However, after reviewing the data, much of the learning improvements our district has accomplished over the past is still there and still improving.

We have raised the percentages of proficient students in the areas of both reading and math in different subgroups. Graduation rates improved 3.2%, and we are closing the gap with limited English proficient students. Yet, there is still much work to do before we can reach our goal of being a high performing school district.

I ask our parents to continue to partner with your teachers to help our students improve and engage in preparing for higher learning opportunities. We are all committed to make Groveport Madison the best place to educate our children and make our community the place to live in Franklin County.

Respectfully,

Bruce Hoover, Superintendent
