GMHS Students Earn Place in 2017 AP Hall of Fame
Several current students and recent GMHS graduates were recognized by the College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) Program for their performance on AP tests. The program allows high school students to earn college credit by taking classes offering university-level curricula and passing a test at the end of the course. Students who earn a 3, 4 or 5 on the test can receive college credit at no cost to the student or their parents.

The AP program recognized the following students as AP scholars -meaning they received scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.
  • Afomia Ayele
  • Dalton Blake
  • Jonathan Blankenship
  • Casey Curtis
  • Cheyenne Evans
  • Delicia Magana-Gonzales
  • Madison Meier
  • Kyle Nester
  • Christopher Wagner
Also recognized was Tessa Warren, who received an AP Scholar with Honors commendation for receiving an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.

Current senior Lauren Barnes was named an AP Scholar with Distinction for earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.

The recognition for our students speaks to the efforts the District has made to better prepare teachers to teach AP classes and make student achievement a priority, said Victoria Blubaugh, school improvement coordinator at the high school.

“The teachers are setting high expectations and the kids are meeting them,” she said. “The scores have been going up and up. It’s been exciting to watch.”

All of these students will be recognized by the Board of Education and their names will be added to the Groveport Madison High School’s AP Hall of Fame.

For the 2017-2018 school year, 125 students are enrolled in the high school’s AP classes.
