October has been an exciting month in first grade! Students used their inquiry skills and the scientific method to learn about apples.They also learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin and facts about bats. During writing, students have been working on narrative stories in their journals. They have also been analyzing characters in fictional stories and making personal connections to the text. In math, students have been learning multiple strategies to solve addition facts and addition word problems. Next, they will learn how to apply strategies to solve subtraction problems.
