Second graders learned about the Tree of Life from Mexico. We learned that it's a symbol to show that all living things are connected and that several countries have their own version of the Tree of Life. We also learned about a special paper used in Mexico called amate paper. For our project we crumbled our paper to show texture similar to the amate paper. As a class we drew together then added color with oil pastels. We learned how similar colors or colors beside each other on the color wheel blend nicely. Taylor was selected by Mrs. Sperk because she drew large and blended her pastels well. Taylor is a 2nd grade student in Mrs. Monhollen's class.
