The Groveport Madison Local School District has a five-member board. The school board represents the people of the district by establishing educational policies and setting goals and objectives for the district. These policies and goals are carried out by the superintendent and staff under the board’s direction. Terms of the board members are four years and overlap to ensure continuity of board leadership. Board Meetings Regular board meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at the Madison Township meeting room, 4575 Madison Lane. Meetings begin at 7:00 P.M. Special meetings may be called in accordance with the state requirements. The school board meeting agenda is set by the superintendent and board president. Individuals who wish to request an item be discussed on the agenda should do so by submitting their request in writing to the Superintendent’s secretary at the Groveport Madison Board of Education Offices or e-mail at marge.beaver@gocruisers.org. Requests should include name, address, phone number, organization represented (if any), or pertinent background information and be submitted five working days before the scheduled meeting. The inclusion of items is at the discretion of the superintendent and board president. Please remember that law prohibits discussion of specific employees or their job performance at a public meeting. State law does allow for discussions by board members regarding employees in executive sessions of the board. Voting can occur only in open sessions.
