Mrs. Vazquez is the guidance counselor at Asbury, Madison  and Sedalia elementaries.  She is at Asbury all day on Tuesdays all day & Friday mornings, as well as some Friday afternoons.
Mrs. Vazquez visits all classrooms monthly with lessons about emotions, friendship, handling bullies and, for the older students, career exploration.
Mrs. Vazquez leads the Hosts & Hostesses, Asbury's new student orientation program.
Mrs. Vazquez coordinates the Intervention Assistance Team, which is a group of staff members who meet weekly to develop interventions for students who are struggling with academics or behavior.
Mrs. Vazquez also enjoys meeting with individual students regarding personal and social issues.

The public library has many resources for children, especially struggling readers. There is a homework help center at the southeast branch from 4-7 p.m., Monday-Thursday.

Capital University Summer Reading Program application
This is a one-on-one program staffed by Capital University education students, supervised by their professor. Cost is $200 but children who qualify for free or reduced price lunch only pay $100. Email Mrs. Vazquez with questions.
