Groveport Madison Schools Mentoring Program
The Ohio Resident Educators Transition Program is a one-year mentoring program.

Our mission is to assist new teachers to become expert, professional educators; to establish personal relationships with Entry Year Teachers for the purpose of professional guidance, support, and instruction; to incorporate in coaching a variety of strategies and professional development activities to help the Entry Year Teachers to grow and to develop in professional competence, attitudes and behaviors.

Groveport Madison provides a fulltime mentor with the sole job of assisting new teachers.  When teachers complete the one-year Transition Program they will have completed the requirements to apply for their Ohio five-year professional licenses.

The teachers and mentor meet each week, to conference about their instructional practices or to reflect upon mentor-observed lessons.  There are 10 evening classes throughout the year.Graduate credit is optional through the University of Cincinnati.
Local Professional Development Committee
Te Groveport Madison Local Professional Development Committee is made of 6 administrators and 6 teachers.

The committee co-chairs are Bruce Hoover and Tammy Rodich.

The purpose of the Groveport Madison Local Professional Development Committee is to review coursework and other professional development activities completed by educators within the district for renewal of certificates or licenses.  The Groveport Madison LPDC also reviews and approves all internal and external providers of Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Philosophy
The Groveport Madison LPDC believes that staff development:
  • provides current information on best practices based on data and research;
  • provides opportunities for skill development;
  • causes reflection on practice;
  • transfers into changed or  improved practice;
  • meets the individual needs of the participants and the needs of the organization;
  • provides opportunities for an ongoing system of support; promotes continuous learning and improvement;
  • relates to improving student achievement.
All plans or reflections must be turned into Robin Howie the Friday before the meetings.
