Our mission is to assist new
teachers to become expert, professional educators; to establish personal
relationships with Entry Year Teachers for the purpose of professional
guidance, support, and instruction; to incorporate in coaching a variety of
strategies and professional development activities to help the Entry Year
Teachers to grow and to develop in professional competence, attitudes and
behaviors.
Groveport Madison provides a fulltime mentor with the
sole job of assisting new teachers. When teachers complete the one-year Transition Program they will have
completed the requirements to apply for their Ohio five-year professional
licenses.
The teachers and mentor meet each week, to conference
about their instructional practices or to reflect upon mentor-observed
lessons. There are 10 evening
classes throughout the year.Graduate credit is optional through the University of Cincinnati. |
