Miss Rinkes Title 1 Reading Teacher
First and Second Grade


Miss Rinkes has been teaching in the Groveport Madison School District for 7 years. This is her fifth year at Asbury Elementary. This school year, Miss Rinkes works with students in Mrs. Kehoe-Conn and Mrs. Jahn's first grade classrooms and Miss Drabek's second grade classroom. She spends about 25 minutes per day with each small group of students in their classrooms. Miss Rinkes works closely with each homeroom teacher to plan and teach appropriate, interactive lessons for her students.

Touchphonics System
This manipulative, multisensory phonics system helps meet the phonics and phonemic awareness needs of students. The system is designed to help students build their phonics knowledge as they discover patterns in the structure of words. Understanding word structure increases automaticity and fluency, which in turn enhances comprehension.

Secret Stories
These clever, fun "stories" are design to help students remember the sounds different letter patterns. If you want to know more ask your first or second grade student, "What does Mommy E do?" or "Who are the super hero letters?". These catch phrases help students remember common letter patterns, which enables them to read more words.
