Arts In Motion
We have a very exciting year in the art classroom! Mrs. Merritt wrote a grant and received $3000 from Target for an art unit titled, Arts in Motion. This grant will provide an opportunity to Dunloe students, kindergarten through fifth grade, to explore the connection of dance through music, physical education, and visual art. Students will also experience dance as a performance art by participating as an audience member in a Ballet Met performance. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will take a field trip to the Ohio Theatre to watch the performance of the Nutcracker on December 17th. The students in kindergarten through second grade will also see a Ballet Met performance called Window on the World, this program will be hosted at Dunloe on January 15th. Students will create an artwork using a figure in motion inspired by the many different learning experiences throughout the dance unit. The fifth and fourth grade students’ artwork will be permanently displayed in the school gym to improve the gym appearance. Along with the new artwork the gym will get a fresh coat of paint.
Thank you Target for your support!
