Mary Tedrow has dedicated nearly 30 years of service to the students, staff, and Groveport Madison Schools’ community, as evidenced by her seven terms (non-consecutive) on the District’s Board of Education.
Mary has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from The Ohio State University. In her more than 14 years in healthcare, Mary worked as a staff nurse for the former Ohio TB Hospital, as a manager for a general medical practice, and as a charge nurse for the Central Ohio Adolescent Center (a psychiatric hospital for children). As a member of the Groveport community for 45 years, Mary has been very active in the community and schools, particularly with area youth organizations. She was actively involved with Girl Scouts for more than ten years, serving as a Troop Leader and Director of the Canal Grove Trails Service Unit. She previously served as PTO President at Groveport ES, and also as a band camp nurse for the Groveport HS Marching Band. Mary currently volunteers as a reading tutor at Glendening ES.
Mary’s service also extends to her church community at the Groveport United Presbyterian Church and as a member of the Broad Street United Presbyterian Church, where she has served as an Elder and in numerous other capacities. Mary also has been involved with the multi-denominational social justice organization, BREAD (Building Responsibility Equality And Dignity). She served on the organization’s Executive Board in 2000.
In 2015, Mary was recognized as the “Central Region Outstanding Board Member” by the Ohio School Board’s Association (OSBA) Central Region, as a result of her 24 years of service as a Board of Education member. Mary was recently recognized with the Ohio School Boards Association's most prestigious commendation, the "All-Ohio School Board Award." She also has been recognized with awards from Girl Scouts of America and was a recipient of the City of Groveport’s “Rarey Award,” in 2012.
Mary and her husband live on a small farm, just east of Groveport. They have three adult children and three grandchildren.
