Early Entrance for Kindergarten
If your child is 5 years old by August 1, he or she must be enrolled in kindergarten that fall.

If your child turns 5 between August 2 and December 31, and you want your child to attend kindergarten that year, you can have him or her tested for early entrance.  Call April Bray at 492-2520 by August 1st to find out more about Early Entrance Testing.  Only children who pass this test and prove to be a good candidate for entering school early according to the Acceleration Policy will be eligible to start kindergarten in the fall.

If your child turns 5 after December 31
, he or she is not eligible to apply for Early Entrance Testing, and must wait to enter kindergarten until the following fall.

If your child is 6 by June 30 and has not attended any school, you may apply for permission to have your child “skip” kindergarten and go directly to the 1st grade.  He or she will need to be tested by your school district.  Call your district’s Kindergarten Testing office at 492-2520 to make an appointment. If your child passes the test, he or she may enter 1st grade.
