In the event of rain or other inclement weather conditions, the graduation ceremony will still take place on June 8, at 10 a.m., but it will be held in the main gymnasium.

What is the date and time of graduation practice?
Graduation practice is scheduled for Friday, June 7 at 9:30 a.m.

When will the Class of 2019 photo be taken?
The senior class group photo will be taken at the start of the graduation practice on Friday, June 7 at 9:30 a.m.

TICKETS (In the event of indoor graduation)
On Tuesday, May 28, all graduates will be issued up to four (4) tickets to be used in the event that graduation must take place indoors due to inclement weather. Assuming we have good weather and graduation can take place on Cruiser Field, there is unlimited seating in the stadium.

PARKING AND TRAFFIC
Student, Staff & Visitor Parking
With the completion of the parking lots this past fall, there are more than 400 parking spaces on the high school’s property. We plan to use all parking spaces on the high school’s property as well as parking lots at the District Service Center (administrative offices) where an additional 80 spaces are available. We are also working with Eastland-Fairfield Career Center to secure additional off-site parking. Groveport Police will oversee traffic control.

Handicapped Parking
The parking lot to the north of the football stadium will be used for handicapped parking; there are 80 spaces available. Those who need handicapped parking will be issued a parking permit. Please contact high school Senior Counselor, Ms. Laura Mathews to get a handicapped parking pass. This pass also permits the individual to use the handicapped seating located on the football field.

OUTDOOR GRADUATION PLANS (on Cruiser Field)
Where are graduates to report before the ceremony begins?
Graduates will report to the auxiliary gymnasium to be checked in and organized into their respective seating position.

Will tickets be needed to get a seat?
If graduation is held in Cruiser Stadium, tickets will not be required and seating will be unlimited.

Outdoor Set-up Plans
Seating for graduates and staff will be set up on the field. A large stage will be set up on the north end of the field (see field mock-up). In addition, areas to the right and left of the stage will be set up for the band and choir. Parents and other guests should easily be able to see their graduate walk across the stage to receive his/her diploma. We will also use the digital scoreboard display.

Outdoor Family & Guest Seating
Families and guests may sit on the home and away sides of the stadium bleachers. Other than those who possess a handicapped pass (as well as the individual who may accompany them) no one will be permitted to enter the on-field seating area. Anyone entering the football field during the ceremony will be escorted from the event by Groveport Police.

Outdoor Handicapped Seating
Seating for individuals with disabilities will be located on the away side of the field. The disabled person may have one escort sit with him/her in the designated handicapped seating area. A parking/entry permit will be available to those needing handicapped seating.

GRADUATION PLANS (in the Main Gymnasium)
Will tickets be needed to get a seat?
Seating for graduates and staff will be set up on the floor of the main gymnasium. Parents and other guests will be seated on the bleachers of the main gymnasium (up to four (4) people per family. Additional seating will be available in the auxiliary gymnasium as well as in the commons.

Will there be Indoor handicapped seating?
Handicapped seating will be available on the first row of the bleachers. The disabled individual may have one escort sit with them in the designated handicapped seating area. A parking/entry permit will be available for those needing handicapped seating.

Indoor Overflow Seating
For those who are unable to secure a ticket to see graduation in the main gymnasium, the District will have overflow seating in the auxiliary gymnasium. The ceremony will be shown live on a large screen in the auxiliary gymnasium.

Reserved Seating
There will be no reserved seating for either venue.

MISCELLANEOUS
Expected attire for students
Students are expected to dress appropriately for the occasion. Girls may wear high heels, but they should be aware of the risk they assume with walking on artificial turf with said footwear. Cell phones are permitted, but they must be kept in the student’s pocket/purse during the ceremony. Graduates are not permitted to bring balloons, sirens, etc. to either venue.

Outdoor Visual Projection
We plan to use the digital scoreboard as a display panel. The digital scoreboard is 48 feet wide by 14 feet tall, and it works very nicely as a large screen on which to stream a live broadcast of the graduation ceremony.

Live Streaming
We are working on plans to live stream graduation through the District’s website. We will have more information on this service in the coming weeks.

BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS
Graduation from high school is an event that comes once in a student’s lifetime. The administration and faculty have made every effort to provide a ceremony that brings meaning to all graduates and their families and loved ones. This is not an athletic event but rather an academic proceeding to honor a journey fulfilled – one students and parents have envisioned for a long time.

Our goal as a professional staff at Groveport Madison High School is to provide a ceremony defined by both dignity and decorum. Students and parents deserve nothing less and we make every effort in our planning to execute a memorable event, start to finish. Proper behavior is expected of all graduates and their guests throughout the graduation ceremony. Failure to comply will result in removal from the event.
