Feature Teacher November

Miss Steward

I am the 6-7th Math Intervention Specialist at Middle School North. This is my second year working for Groveport Madison schools. I graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Mild to Moderate/Moderate to Intensive degree with a specialization in reading. I have worked for Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities and for the Boys and Girls Club of America.

Why I Teach

Growing up, I wanted to be anything but a teacher. My high school history teacher changed my mind through her kindness, patience, and interactive lessons. She always saw the best in her students and you could tell she had a desire to help others and to help her students reach their full potential. I teach so that I can help students be the best that they can be. My goal is to prepare them academically, emotionally, and socially for their future endeavors.

Marshmallow Challenge

Students participated in the Marshmallow Challenge which incorporates geometry, engineering, and team building. Students were required to build the tallest free-standing structure that they could using tape, spaghetti, yarn, and a marshmallow. It was exciting to see the students learn how to work together and to think critically and creatively.
