SCHOOL NEWS!
Dear
Dunloe Parents and Guardians,
The
2011 – 2012 School Year is off to a terrific start! Our students returned to
school ready to learn and to make good choices as they go through the school
day. We are very focused on Positive Behavior Support at our school this year
and rules and daily procedures have been identified and taught to all students.
Attendance!
Regular attendance in elementary school sets up a good pattern for your child’s
entire school career. School attendance keeps students on track with daily
assignments and new materials. Please report absences to the school office the
morning your student is going to be out of school (614-833-2008). Plan to schedule routine doctor and dentist
appointments for after school or over school breaks. Also, being on time for school is very important for your student/students,
classmates and teachers! Being tardy
affects the monthly Dunloe Good Citizenship awards.
Parent/Teacher Conferences are scheduled for mid-October this year. Please plan
to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss your student’s progress and to
hear from the teacher about the goals for teaching/learning this school year. Conferences
are set for Thursday, October 13 from
4:00 PM to 7:45 PM and on Tuesday,
October 18 from 4:00 PM to 7:15PM.
Teachers will send home notices and scheduling information closer to the
Conference dates.
The
Pinwheels for Peace Project returned
to Dunloe again this school year. Mrs.
Merritt, Art Teacher, had Dunloe students celebrate International Day of Peace by creating their own pinwheels. On
September 21, the pinwheels became a part of an installation project on
Dunloe’s front lawn. Pictures are available on the Groveport Madison Website!
On
September 15, Dunloe’s 3rd, 4th and 5th elected
the 2011-12 Student Council. After
an exciting election campaign, the following students were elected to represent
their classes:
Mr. Gainer’s Class

perform the many jobs and duties of helping improve Dunloe Elementary and as
they serve our school and community! Mrs.
Hitsman and Mrs. Merritt are Advisors for Dunloe’s Student Council.
Dunloe’s 5th Graders had an exciting
educational field trip on September 20 to 3 Creeks Metro Parks. Our students
experienced the activities that re-enforced the concepts of producer, consumer and
decomposer. The S.E.E.D. Program is paid for by a grant from the Columbus
Metropolitan Parks.
We will continue to keep in touch with our parents and
guardians during the school year via monthly newsletters, a monthly events/activities
calendar, cafeteria menus and by having parents connect to the Groveport
Madison Schools web page at: www.gocruisers.org.
Our theme for the 2011-2112 school year is: Focus on
Success for ALL! Please join our efforts and work with us as our students,
teachers and staff FOCUS ON SUCCESS!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jane Curry, Principal
