CANDY STILL LIFE

Students were asked to bring a candy bar, pack of gum, granola bar or something packaged similar to Art Class.  After viewing  a presentation on Paul Cezanne and discussing his theories on still life drawings, students began to draw.  Using several of the Elements of Art, they were able to draw their candy as a realsitic natural object, being careful to include the details and correct sizing.

Eventually, the toture ended and they were able
to open their candy, draw the inside treat and then eat!

POSITIVE/NEGATIVE SPACE

After studying positive/negative space, students drew a simple object with just a few details.  Using a ruler and a Sharpie they were to divide the paper into even ruler-width spaces.  As the spaces changed, the drawing would change from positive to negative, black to white.  When they were finished they were able to highlight one area with a color.
