Charlotte Barker and her husband, Delmer, moved to the Groveport area in 1963.
They have three children, Gayle, Chuck, and Tricia, all graduates of Groveport Madison. They also have six grandchildren; two are graduates of Groveport Madison High School and one is in pre-school at Groveport Elementary. Mrs. Barker took an early retirement from Borden, Inc. in 1997 when she moved to Urbana, Ohio. During that time, she was employed by Springfield City Schools and was the council clerk for Urbana. She was also a self-employed real estate investor in the Groveport area for more than 25 years. She moved back to Groveport in 2006 when her husband retired. She is a member of the Groveport United Methodist Church; active in Groveport Madison Adopt a Family; Feed the Children Summer Program; member of Committee For Better Schools (Levy Committee and Helping Hands Program); member of the Groveport Garden Club. Her goal is to work with the other members of the board of education and the superintendent to establish policy that reflects the values of the community, maintains fiscal responsibility, and at all times best serves the children of the district. She believes our schools and community must work together to ensure both are the best they can be, that the foundation for great communities are schools that excel, and parent involvement in our schools encourages our children to achieve. She will promote more parent and community involvement in our schools and envisions schools full of active learning during the day and bursting with social activity that involves the children and their parents after school.
